How to make container candles with ParaSoy™ wax
You will need:
● Parasoy™ Professional Container Wax
● Weighing Scales
● Pouring Jug
● Thermometer
● 20cl Candle Glass
● Fragrance Oil (if using)
● Wick Centering Tool
● Wick Stick Um
● Wick
● Pan
● Hob/Hot Plate/Double Boiler
- Wicking your container
Choose your container and select a suitable wick for it. A guide for this can be found on our Candle College here. Place your Wick Stick Um on the base of your wick, then place the wick in the centre of your container.
- Melting your wax
Weigh the correct amount of wax for your container. For a 20cl glass we are using 160g of Parasoy Container Wax. Place your wax into either a double boiler or in a bowl over a pan filled with water. Place your pan on a hob or hotplate and heat until your wax is around 80C, but make sure not to exceed it. Once melted transfer the wax to your pouring jug.
- Adding Fragrance
Add your fragrance oil to the wax. A good starting point is a 6% fragrance oil to wax ratio, although feel free to experiment with more. Give it a stir, you can also add any dyes you want at this stage.
- Pouring your mixture
We recommend pouring your wax at 75C. Make sure your candle container has been pre-warmed. Place your wick centering tool to keep your wick in the centre of the container as we pour. Pour the wax until there’s a 1cm gap at the top of the container.
- Curing your candle
Leave your candle for at least 24 hours to cool and cure at room temperature, then trim the wick to about 5mm.
We recommend conducting your own experiments when it comes to the amount of fragrance and dye you add, and the temperatures you melt and pour your wax.
We’d love to see your work!
