Wood wicks are an innovative alternative to traditional cotton wicks. Not only do wood wicks burn cleanly and disperse fragrance excellently, they also generate subtle crackle sounds, creating a captivating acoustic ambiance. The soothing crackling sounds of wood wicks bring a whole new sensory delight to your candles. Our wood wicks are made from Maple. As there are only limited sizes, it can be more difficult to correctly wick your candle. If your wood wick is over wicked, you can alter the size by cutting a thin strip down the edge to reduce flame size. If it is under wicked, you can double up the wicks in the configurations shown below. If your wick extinguishes during burning it is likely the blend is not right for the wick, and you may have to reduce the amount of fragrance. Alternatively you can alter wax composition, you can increase viscosity by adding a small amount of beeswax which will excel the capillary action and help the burn quality. The wick should always be trimmed so that 5mm or less is above the wax before lighting for the first time. Failure to do so can result in poor performance and the wick extinguishing during the burn. Experimentation is key!
