For all things candle and home fragrance making!
Owner of Meadow West, this small business has a very big heart. From stunning soy wax melts to candles inspired by the seaside, her product range is stunningly simple with a real hit of modern design. So let’s delve deeper into where this beautiful business started.
Meadow West was created as a way for, owner, Becca to release her creative spirit during the craziness of the coronavirus lockdown. After being furloughed from her part-time job, she soon realised that she loved creating something that brings joy to people in the height of this madness. Before she knew it she took the plunge of starting her own little adventure. Becca had always loved candles so exploring this new venture was the perfect fit. After making candles for her family and friends she decided to take her candle making skills one step further.
To kick start her journey, she turned to the help of social media. Utilising social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, where she was able to start showing off her beautiful handcrafted candles, amongst other creations, to the world. After many hours of research and scoping the landscape, she also decided to have her own website, where you can explore her products and her brand even more.
Like every business, coming up with a name for yourself to sell under can be quite the task. So where did Meadow West come from you ask? Meadow West incorporates part of Becca’s address, Meadow, which is then complemented by the addition of West, because she lives in West Cumbria. Her brand name and products both have heavy links to the natural environment in which she lives and the inspiration from the coast is certainly replicated in her products and her aesthetic, be it packaging, her website or her social media. Becca describes her brand as “earthy and natural and I wanted my scents to reflect that”. You’ll certainly know Meadow West when you see it.
When asked what advice would you give to those hoping to build their own candle business Becca pushed for people to be confident.
“Go with your instinct, if you choose what you love people will see the passion behind it!”
