What is a wax melt?
A wax melt, sometimes referred to as a wax tart or wax cube, is a scented piece of wax designed to be melted in an tealight burner when heated. The heat from the burner causes the wax melt to release its fragrance into the air and create a pleasant atmosphere.
Wax melts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from classic cubes to cute animals and seasonal designs. They are popular all year round but especially during holidays like Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Halloween and Easter.
Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, there are several other benefits that make wax melts incredibly popular with users:
• Wax melts are incredibly economical – they can be reused multiple times before needing replacing
• Wax melts don’t produce smoke or flames which makes them much safer than burning candles , especially if used with an electric melter
• With thousands different fragrances available for wax melts today (from fruity zests through floral bouquets), you’ll never tire of experimenting with different scents!
Simply, place one piece of your desired wax melt into your melt dish – let it sit undisturbed until it has fully melted; wait around 10 minutes for best results. The heat causes the fragrance to evaporate releasing your chosen scent into the air. They can be used over and over again, as the scent fades simply remove from your melter and replace with a brand new wax melt.
How long does a wax melt last?
The length of time a wax melt lasts will depend on several factors, such as the type of wax used and the burning environment.
Most wax melts usually last around 8-10 hours in total, but some paraffin-based products can burn up to 12 or even 20 hours. As for the environment that you’re burning in, the warmer temperatures may cause your wax melts to evaporate faster which can reduce it's melt time whereas cooler temperatures will help them last longer.
It’s also important to note that most wax melts aren't designed with wicks or flames so they don't actually "burn". Instead they slowly release their scent into your home every time you use them. This makes them both long lasting and cost effective since you don't have to buy new ones after each use like traditional candles typically require.
Overall, if used correctly and kept at consistent temperatures, a single wax melt could potentially provide between 5-20 hours of aroma depending on the kind that is being used and the desired strength of the scent it is releasing!
